PLAYGROUND COMMITTEE JOB DESCRIPTIONS
The contact names in parentheses are committee chairs

Public Relations Committee
(John Ascenzi)
Handles all aspects of public relations through the life of the project. General activities for this committee include writing press releases and other materials, trying to place stories with local print and TV media, making follow-up phone calls, and publicizing all fundraising initiatives. People on this committee should have great interpersonal skills and be good with follow-through. Contact us to Help!

Fundraising Committee
(Rose McManus)
Responsible for raising all of the funds needed to build the playground. Fundraising is broken up into three areas: Grassroots efforts (i.e., house parties, flea markets, selling pickets/boards, etc.), Corporations, and Foundations. People on this committee should have great interpersonal skills, be persistent and not take "no" for an answer. It's also helpful, but not necessary, to be well connected in the community.

Volunteers Committee
(Wendy Schwartz Barnett;
Orla van den Muyzenberg-Hahn)
Recruits all of the volunteers for the day of the build. We will need 1,000 volunteers over the 5-day build period: 150-200 on the weekdays, and 300-400 on the weekends. Volunteer committee members will recruit from schools, corporations, local organizations, neighbors, fraternities/sororities, service groups, etc. They will also be responsible for receiving and organizing these volunteers throughout the 5-day build. Organized and detail-oriented people are great for this committee.
